Billy Pate’s Fly Fishing Collection Goes to Auction May 19, 2012

In April 2011, the fly fishing world lost one of its favored and legendary members, William Wilson Pate, Jr. At the time of his passing, the octogenarian was an avid angler and had innumerable fishing records to his credit. Sadly, those trophies and the rest of his fly fishing collection will be auctioned off to the public on May 19, 2012. Here are a few more details:

Pa. fly fishing event helps wounded soldiers

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (AP) - With a fishing rod and net, nine soldiers took up the art of fly fishing Saturday as part of the Falling Spring Invitational Fly Fishing Outing for Wounded Warriors in Chambersburg.

Choosing the right fishing rod is just like selecting the proper golf club to make a shot. You do not see a golfer playing with just one club. He has a bag containing 14 different clubs. Each of these clubs helps him make a particular type of shot.

Strausstown Rod & Gun Club holds fishing rodeo

Rod Meseberg Spring Walleye Classic produced good numbers of fish

The 2012 Rod Meseberg Spring Walleye Classic was a great success. This year we had 66 teams participate in this fishing tournament. We only had one team report no fish caught on the first day of competition, which is really low.

Poho Poco Rod and Gun Club plans fishing event for area youth

In recognition of local military veterans, Poho Poco Rod and Gun Club is hosting a "Youth Fishing" day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 13, at the Phifer Ice Dam Park, Main Road, in Franklin Township. The ponds are adjacent to the Franklin Township Little League fields.
