Experience the best Manitoba Lake trout fishing

Monday 31 May 2010 @ 11:41 pm

Lake trout are huge fish that are found mostly in shallow waters of 8 to 20 feet deep during the months of May to June.  However during the months of July to August they tend to do deeper into the water as far as 40 to 50 feet deep. Manitoba lake trout fishing is known as a lazy man’s fishing, as it can be done by just using diving plugs or large spoons near rocky areas where the trout are found mostly.

Manitoba Fishing during the early part of the day or late evening is more effective than mid day. Lake trout are the wandering type and they move towards places that provide cool water temperatures. Lake trout make a good dish for the table, especially when they are poached, fried, baked or smoked.

A lot of fresh water lakes in and around Manitoba house the famous lake trout leaving hunters extremely excited with their catch. The best baits for lake trout fishing could be smelt, shiners, chubs or fish strips. A single lake trout or a laker otherwise called, weighs from 3 to 7 pounds. They are found near the surface and require different fishing techniques to catch them.

Lake trout hunting is extremely interesting. Once the trout has the bait in its mouth they begin to wriggle furiously. This is when the fisher should be extra cautious not to let go of the hook. It could be a long battle between the two, reeling should be done quickly as soon as the laker seems to get exhausted. In this way the fisher enjoys the fishing experience.

Lake trout fishing is seen throughout Canada especially during the fall and spring months when the trouts will be at the surface of the water just a few feet under water. Since they like cook temperatures in winter they are much more deeper in the water.

Get that fish into the boat

Monday 31 May 2010 @ 3:05 pm

Im more of a medium-action, six-foot rod guy, mostly because I enjoy fishing with the shorter, lighter rods. I seldom use my fishing rod to lift a fish weighing much more than three pounds. When landing a fish, never reel the fish right up to the end of your rod tip. Keep the fish four to six feet away from the rod tip, thus enabling the stretch of the line and the flex of the rod to work in …
